Whatever his relationship was with her mom for those few years, it hopefully hasn't screwed them up. I don't know how he treated her, but I know what he does when he's not on a film set. He's a decent guy outside and one of the few actors that supports the Bill of Rights and Constitution. I hope he does right by her and her kids inside.
