Ashlee Simpson, who was happy mom and happily married, encountered a career bump: her character in Melrose Place will be killed off the show.

The executive producer dished the scoop that Ashlee was always set to leave after the twelfth episode. Although the move may have been in the cards, a source revealed that Ashlee wasn’t popular with viewers so the CW decided to get rid of her for the sake of the show.

It seems the decision did not affect Ashlee because she was still excited about being on the set, raving about co-stars Heather Locklear and Brooke Burns.

Proud parents Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz took the holidays as a reason to show off their newborn son, Bronx Mowgli, on the Web.

The couple posted a “Happy Holidays” greeting addressed to “all our friends” on Pete Wentz’s site, that reads, “We decided to share the best gift we could ever receive with you: Bronx Mowgli Wentz.”

The couple, who decided not to sell their baby’s first pic, also gave a list of worthwhile charities that need our support. They added, “Below is a list of worthwhile charities that need your support, which includes the IRC, Room to Grow and Richie Madden foundation.”

Bronx was born Nov. 20 in Los Angeles and “makes me laugh and smile everyday,” Simpson-Wentz recently wrote.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and husband Pete Wentz welcomed a son Thursday night, according to a report.

Bronx Mowgli Wentz weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz., and was 20 1/2 inches long.

A spokesperson revealed: “Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes!”

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, 24, and the “Fall Out Boy” bassist, 29, announced her pregnancy in May, a few weeks after their opulent Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland-themed wedding.

Ashlee revealed: “I would love to have a big family one day. Her husband added: “A big soccer team or a band!”

And, as her dad, Joe Simpson, recently revealed: “The day she found out she was pregnant, she became a woman.”

Pete Wentz, meanwhile, has been leaning on rocker pal Joel Madden, dad to 9-month-old Harlow with girlfriend Nicole Richie – for tips on fatherhood, saying: “Joel gives me advice. [It's] been really awesome for me to go to another person my age.”

Richie and Harlow were guests at Simpson-Wentz’s Winnie the Pooh-themed baby shower on Nov. 1.

Pete Wentz also has another important thing coming on the way: Fall Out Boy’s third album, Folie A Deux, will be released on Dec. 16.

Pete Wentz revealed wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is due to give birth any minute as he called into Ryan Seacrest this morning.

The Fall Out Boy bassist also said: “She is very pregnant. I am on call permanently right now. She’s at the very end, and it could happen at any point.”

Pete Wentz, who will attempt to break a world record for most radio interviews in 24 hours with band-mate Patrick Stump on Friday, adds that Simpson-Wentz, 24, is “excited” to become a mom.

The 29-year-old rocker continued: “She (feels) hot all the time. I think she wants to just be not pregnant anymore. … It’s a struggle to go up and down the stairs. Going out in public is insane.”

Another milestone the pair is looking forward to is naming their little one – but not until after the birth.

The rocker added that he has a formula in place for when the time comes, saying: “I want to meet (the baby) first. My brother was almost a Duncan, and he’s Andrew now. I think it might have ruined his life more if he was a Duncan. My friend said it – you’ve gotta have a baby with a name that could be a rock star or a senator, so he’ll get work either way.”

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, who could not sleep without her cuddly toys, traded her stylish maternity wardrobe for trailer-park chic Friday night, at a costume party to celebrate her 24th birthday.

A guest, who attended the bash at Ashlee Simpson’s parents’ home in Encino, dished the scoop: “It had a white-trash theme. Ashlee wore Daisy Dukes and platform flip-flops with a bathing suit and a fake tattoo around her belly.”

The singer celebrated with friends and family including husband Pete Wentz, dad Joe and sister Jessica.

A guest also revealed: “Joe wore a cut-off muscle T-shirt and a mullet wig. It was funny. Jessica was wearing a crazy leopard-print dress that showed off a lot of cleavage.”

The menu included corn dogs, macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers and French fries.

With her first child due next month, an exhausted Ashlee Simpson-Wentz headed home early, missing party guests Christina Aguilera, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, who dropped by after hitting Gwen Stefani’s birthday party earlier that night.

A friend revealed: “Ashlee loves themed parties and costumes.” Last year, guests sported prom dresses, vintage tuxedos and fingerless gloves as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz celebrated her birthday with an ’80s bash.

Ashlee Simpson, who previously doesn’t take fictitious rumors about her on the Internet lightly, was can’t sleep without her cuddly toys.

The singer, who is expecting her first child with husband Pete Wentz, has received hundreds of stuffed bears since announcing her pregnancy and she reportedly could not stand to be parted from them when she goes to bed.

A source revealed: “She has so many teddy bears and loves them so much she has filled her bed with them. It is a little crowded, but Pete gives in to whatever Ashlee wants. It is really sweet.”

The 23-year-old singer recently revealed her excitement at her impending motherhood as she said: “We’re getting the nursery ready. I can’t wait to be a mom and he can’t wait to be a dad, so it’s fun. The baby is my main focus right now. This is definitely the happiest moment in my life.”

Despite their preparations, Ashlee and “Fall Out Boy” star Pete, 29, haven’t chosen a name for the baby yet.

On the joke of calling their child Orange, Ashley explained: “I don’t think it’s something we’ll decide until the baby comes.”

Ashlee’s sister Jessica Simpson recently commented that she plans to spoil the new family member when it arrives.

The pregnant singer responded to uncharitable internet speculations about her with her own post on MySpace, indicating she is rocking with the little rocker in her womb.

She posted a blog on her MySpace page, which has a title “My size 0 jeans”…by Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, responding to bogus reports that she cried because her doctor told her she was fat!

Today I read on a blog that I went to the doctor and he said I was overweight and I cried and went to Planet Blue (because I was blue) and bought 6 pair of size 0 jeans. Now it is ridiculous to read such nonsense about oneself so I thought I would address this one…

1. My doctor says I am right on target with my weight gain.
2. Have not been to Planet Blue in at least two years.
3. Love my maternity jeans … they have stretchy tops it is awesome!
4. My closet full of size 0’s are being worn by Pete right now and he looks hot in them

So now that I have cleared that up let me tell you … carrying a child is the most inspiring, emotional, amazing experience of my life. My weight and my pant size are the absolute last thing I am concerned about. I am only concerned with having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. People who talk and judge pregnant women’s weight need to get a life!!!
