George Clooney is returning to the show that made him famous.

It was confirmed that the tall dark and handsome star will put on the scrubs once more as Dr. Doug Ross when he shoots scenes for an appearance on ER Thursday and Friday of this week.

George Clooney’s return to the long-running show was the subject of controversy from the get-go. Producers wanted him to come back, but said they weren’t holding their breath.

ER creator John Wells recently revealed: “We’ve talked about it a couple times. If he stops by and wants to do it, he’ll do it.”

George Clooney rose to fame as Dr. Doug Ross on the show, which premiered in 1994, and last appeared in 2000. The long-running show is ending its 15-season run this year.

Paris Hilton, who previously sparked reports that she is helping the world through shopping, is reportedly dating George Clooney.

The socialite fueled speculation of a romance after recently enjoying an “intimate” evening with the ‘Burn After Reading’ star at the Whiskey Bar at the Sunset Marquis hotel in Hollywood, according to a magazine report.

A source revealed: “Paris and George sat and talked together for ages. They didn’t seem to be aware of anyone else in the room.”

The following evening, Paris, 27, was seen sitting beside 47-year-old George at a dinner at a Hollywood restaurant, with other guests including director Ridley Scott and Brittany Flickinger, winner of ‘Paris Hilton’s My New BFF’ show.

Meanwhile, Paris reportedly caused shock in Australia because of her “psycho shopping”.

The hotel heiress, who was in the country for a New Year’s Eve party in Sydney, stunned shoppers by spending almost $100 a minute at boutique Wayne Cooper, with critics branding the 40-minute spree “obscene”.

However, Paris Hilton, who is also visiting hospitals to meet sick children while in the country, insisted she was boosting the economy with her extravagance.

She claimed: “I’m in Australia, I think it’s important to help out, you know, the economy out here, everywhere in the world.”Paris was also defended by Australian Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard, who said: “I’m obviously not as well practiced at shopping as Ms. Hilton is but Australia is a great place to do it.”

George Clooney has taken a sideways swipe at the celebrity supporters of Barack Obama who would attend the Democratic Party convention.

The politically minded actor has stayed away while the celebrities such as Charlize Theron, Susan Sarandon, Anne Hathaway and director Spike Lee have descended on Denver, Colorado.

The 47-year-old Hollywood actor is in Italy to present his latest movie, “Burn After Reading”, at the Venice Film Festival.

When asked if he would have liked to attend the convention, George Clooney answered: “I like watching conventions on television. I think the stars there should be the people who have been elected.”

The “Ocean 13” actor did not praise Barack Obama too much as he revealed that he was “optimistic” but also “worried” about what the future might hold.

The liberal George Clooney is believed to be a big supporter of the senator. He was previously denied the speculation that he was acting as an unofficial adviser to the presidential hopeful.

Brad Pitt, who is George Clooney’s co-star in the film, added that it was “a vital time” for US politics but was similarly reticent when asked about the Democratic candidate.

Perhaps the celebrity pair was wary about giving too much celebrity endorsement to the senator as he aims for the White House.

Republican rival John McCain has mocked Barack Obama’s Hollywood fan club, recently comparing him to Paris Hilton.
