Ryan Seacrest was spotted hanging out with the Lindsay Lohan on Thursday night and when asked why the two were spending time together, Seacrest revealed he is a mentor of sorts for the 22-year-old.

“I’m trying to, you know, give her guidance,” Seacrest told a cameraman for TMZ. “She wants to sing. She loves to sing. Dude, you know she’s a singer. Come on.”

Seacrest added he is impressed with Lohan’s vocal work.

“She’s good,” he said before jumping into the back of a black SUV after an evening clubbing with the “Mean Girls” star.

A short while later, cameras captured Lohan also diving into the back of the same vehicle, though she remained mum on her relationship with the TV host and radio DJ.

According to X17 Online, the SUV took the two to Lohan’s home, where loud music was heard coming from her house, prompting a police presence.

At 3:30 a.m., after a visit from the police, the two went to Seacrest’s house, the Web site reported.

Meanwhile, Lindsay was spotted as she was leaving Ryan’s pad earlier this morning, and it was not sure if she stumbled into the shower or her bed first, but it looks like she needed more than just a power nap! Ryan took off for the E! studios before Lindsay left, so we have to wonder why Linds decided to stay at Ryan’s house.

With their numbers narrowed down to the Top 36, “American Idol” is going live for the first time in Season 8 starting tonight, and according to host Ryan Seacrest, producers may want to keep their hand on the censor key.

Ryan revealed of the frank batch of contenders: “What’s great about these contestants, and you will start seeing it Tuesday and Wednesday night, these contestants will tell you how they feel. I have a feeling we may need the bleep button. The bleep button may need to be activated this year. Some of these contestants are pretty candid, which is great. They show heart and passion and we need them.”

And among the 36 hopefuls, a handful are already standing out, even before tonight’s live round begins.

Season 7 finalist Carly Smithson said of her pick for the Season 8 finals: “Anoop [Desai]. I love him. He’s so cool. I like Anoop.”

Justin Guarini, from “Idol’s” first season, was also a fan of the hopeful, saying: “My picks for this round coming up, someone I feel strongly for and I think he’s got a fantastic voice? Anoop Desai — he’s my man.”

But Mandisa, from “American Idol” Season 5, said she doesn’t just have a favorite, she knows who is going to win.

“The winner of ‘American Idol’ Season 8? Danny Gokey,” she said. “He not only has a great story, but he’s an amazing singer. When he opened his mouth he won me over, but then when I heard his story, I was definitely sold.”

In related news, fans of the show can purchase the music performances from the semifinal round for 99 cents per song, beginning Wednesday.

On his KIIS-FM radio show Monday, Ryan Seacrest spoke out about Angelina Jolie dissing him on the red carpet at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.

Ryan Seacrest had gotten up next to the actress and beau Brad Pitt, hoping to score an interview on E!’s pre-show. “Hi, guys. Brad? Angelina?” he said, but they ignored his advance and brushed by him.

How did he take on the incident? He revealed on his show Monday: “I don’t think Angelina thinks I’m that important. I don’t think I’m top of mind for Brad and Angelina. I honestly don’t believe they’d know who I was if I walked over there.”

When guest Perez Hilton told Seacrest that that’s impossible, as he hosts the No. 1 show American Idol, the TV personality shot back: “Yeah…but they live in France!”

Brangelina did stop for NBC’s Billy Bush, but Seacrest said: “there’s an NBC deal there. NBC hosted the Globes, and they have a deal to talk to the people who come to the Globes.”

He went on: “Here’s what I realized when I went down there. I realized quickly that it’s against the rules to walk down onto the carpet from the platform.

He added: “Then we went back down there and caught up with Tom Cruise, who I think is a terrific guy. I think he’s really cool. By the way, have you seen his skin tone up close lately? You should!”

Ryan Seacrest clashed with Jolie before: At the 2006 Golden Globes, he asked her what she fed her children that day and she icily replied: ” Cereal — we made cereal.”

He later called her “cold” for being so unresponsive.

Turns out, Jolie’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, was on her death bed at the time.

Ryan Seacrest mocked Simon’s use of botox on the Ellen DeGenres Show saying: “You wouldn’t know (if he’s angry) because of all the shots. The angry face is the same as the happy face.”

The two television personalities work together on American Idol and often enjoy a verbal jousting session.

Ryan Seacrest added: “We are very competitive, we do like to compete but it’s for fun.”

Simon Cowell has previously confessed to getting his wrinkles plumped, saying: “I have not had cosmetic surgery. Yes, I’ve had Botox, but not in an obsessive way. Then again, every guy I know who works in the City has had it now.”

Simon Cowell added: “I like to take care of myself. I work out. I take lots of vitamins. What can I say? I think I look good for my age.”
