Julia Roberts angers Hindu villagers in India after worshipers are banned from their temple while she shot scenes from her new film in their temple.
Villagers, who was hoping to celebrate a religious festival, were barred from temple as it was sealed by Roberts’s vast security team. The Hollywood actress was filming “Eat, Pray, Love,” in which she portrays a woman hoping to find herself in Hindu spirituality, was lost on local devotees for whom the temple has always been open.
Roberts’ security detail scale has been derided as “presidential” in India, and her intrusion into a sacred Hindu ritual has caused wider ill-feeling towards the actress.
