Noel Gallagher quits Oasis after a pre-concert fight with his bandmate brother Liam in Paris, France, on Friday (28Aug09).
During their massive bust-up backstage, Liam was reportedly smashed one of Noel’s guitars. After a confrontation, a raging Noel stormed out and announced he has quit the band.
In a statement on the band’s official website, Noel expressed that he is both sad and relieved to be walking away from Oasis. He also said that he could not continue working with Liam and he apologize to his fans who bought tickets for their shows.
Disappointed fans at Rock en Seine were told about the cancellation on giant screens with a message explaining that “an altercation within the band” was to blame.
The split comes just days after Oasis axed a headline slot at the U.K.’s V Festival on Sunday (23Aug09), blaming Liam’s throat infection.
