Nicole Kidman Speaks In Congress About Violence To Women

Nicole Kidman, who is the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), speaks during the “International Violence Against Women: Stories and Solutions” hearing on October 21 in Washington, D.C.

The actress appeared before the committee in her role as a goodwill ambassador to promote the International Violence Against Women Act. She stressed that the violence against women is not prosecuted because it is not a top government and urgent social priority.

The Australian star told Congress that the UN women’s fund needs more resources. She thought that the women need and deserve Congress’ support with a comprehensive, well-funded approach that acknowledges that women’s rights are human rights.
