Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have chosen their baby girl’s name with their love of history and family.
The royal baby is named Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank – a regal title that pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Adelaide and a Portuguese princess. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the 36-year-old royal explained that inspiration for their latest bundle of joy are from those they love and admire, past and present. Why Adelaide Elizabeth Annina is very important? Adelaide honors two remarkable queens: Queen Elizabeth II, who was Princess Eugenie’s much-loved grandmother, and Queen Adelaide (1792–1849), wife of King William IV. Places such as Adelaide Cottage in Berkshire (formerly the home of the Prince and Princess of Wales) and the Australian city of Adelaide, named after her, keep Queen Adelaide’s memory alive. Meanwhile, Annina is based on Princess Eugenie and Jack’s admiration of the Portuguese Princess of Braganza, Maria Adelaide of Portugal, and the 19th-century “folk saint” of Porto who was devoted to serving others. A name as royal as the princess herself. Welcome to the world, little princess!
