Kate Middleton will become patron of a charity that aims to brighten the lives of seriously ill children.
Her family’s mail-order firm Party Pieces helps organize events for the charity. In 2009 that children helped by Starlight were asked to put the decorations on the Christmas tree at Clarence House, the London home of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. Last year, Starlight arranged for William to entertain a six-year-old girl, Lydia, who was seriously ill with heart disease, after she had said her wish was to be a princess
